UN SDSN

The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise from academia, civil society and the private sector to promote practical problem solving for sustainable development.

The SDSN is committed to supporting the implementation of the SDGs, including the Paris Climate Agreement, at the local, national and global level. The SDSN is building a global network of universities, research centres, and other knowledge institutions focusing on:

  • Providing and mobilizing support for the SDGs;
  • Promoting practical Solutions Initiatives and long-term pathways for sustainable development;
  • Promoting high-quality education and research collaboration for sustainable development; and
  • Supporting governments in understanding and addressing the challenges of sustainable development.

The SDSN has operated under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General since 2012. It is now led by Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University and has secretariat offices in New York, New Delhi and Paris.
