CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC) is a non-profit, private teaching hospital wholly owned by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). With a social mission to bridge the service gap between the private and public healthcare systems in Hong Kong, CUHKMC is dedicated to offering quality healthcare service at transparent and affordable package fees. In line with the not-for-profit principle, all surpluses from the Hospital will be ploughed back to the Hospital for hospital development and the CUHK Faculty of Medicine for research and teaching.

Recognising the unprecedented threat of the climate crisis, CUHK has pledged to achieve carbon neutrality by 2038, aligning with the net-zero targets of mainland China by 2060 and Hong Kong by 2050. To support this vision, CUHKMC has set the following goals:

In March 2025, CUHKMC attained the "Achiever" level in the Strategic Sustainability Benchmark Scheme (SSBS) conducted by the Centre for Business Sustainability, CUHK Business School, with a score of 77 out of 100. CUHKMC’s sustainability performance was benchmarked against the Hong Kong Business Sustainability Index (HKBSI), which includes 80 constituents of the Hang Seng Index. With a score of 77, CUHKMC outperformed the HKBSI average of 66, placing us in the top 34% of HKBSI constituents. Identified areas for improvement will guide ongoing enhancement efforts in collaboration with employees and external stakeholders.

CUHKMC hosts an annual Sustainability Awareness Day, featuring distinguished keynote speakers who share insights on the latest trends in sustainability and carbon neutrality. This event underscores CUHKMC's commitment to driving actionable change.
