The Belt and Road Alliance for Traditional Chinese Medicine, proposed by CUHK, is a non-profit cooperative organization formed in 2023 which unites over 20 government, industry, academic, and research institutions related to traditional medicine in countries and regions associated with the BRI. The Alliance currently includes over 40 universities and colleges from China (including Hong Kong and Macao) and the BRI countries which specialize in traditional medicine. The Alliance held its Presidents’ Forum on 18 July 2025 in CUHK to bring together presidents and representatives from 30 of these institutions to explore strategies for advancing the internationalization and modernization of traditional Chinese medicine.
The International Universities Climate Alliance (IUCA), was established in April 2020 and was convened by the University of New South Wales in Australia. It seeks to translate research into practice by sharing findings with global leaders, policymakers and business executives to facilitate climate action. IUCA is a global alliance of diverse universities committed to evidence-based research and practice, with multidisciplinary focus on climate change science, impact, mitigation and adaptation. Members of the alliance include The University of Oxford, The California Institute of Technology, The National University of Singapore, Yale University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
ReThink HK is an annual event that helps organizations integrate sustainable business practices into all levels of their value chain, while showcasing innovation and the solutions that accelerate sustainable transformation. It aims to unite the ecosystem so stakeholders and communities can contribute to and look forward to a climate-smart and equitable city for all. The event attracts exhibitors and partners from diverse backgrounds, including NGOs and universities, fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration and knowledge sharing.
SDSN Hong Kong was one of the supporting organizations of ReThink HK 2025 and hosted a panel discussion on ‘SDG’s at a Crossroads: Has Adoption and Integration Failed or Can We Still Catalyse Impact?’ to examine the barriers to effective implementation of SDGs in policymaking, philanthropy and research. Beyond professional partnerships, the event also features a student volunteer programme for undergraduate students to gain valuable experience and network with like-minded peers who share a passion for accelerating sustainability in Hong Kong.
