The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, SDSN Hong Kong co-host, has funded the Jockey Club UNESCO Hong Kong Association Global Citizenship Education Project. The aim of the project is to educate, inspire and mobilise local youths to take on a more active role in shaping a sustainable future for all, equipping them with a sense of world-mindedness to become global citizens and future global leaders, taking responsibility for social problems and global issues. Under this project, secondary and post-secondary students will participate in a diverse array of local and international activities, to explore concepts and issues related to four specific SDGs: (1) SDG 1 No Poverty; (2) SDG 3 Good Health and Well-being; (3) SDG 13 Climate Action and (4) SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. Outstanding students will also have the opportunity to represent Hong Kong at UN events overseas, providing them exposure to global development issues and expanding their international network. Through this exceptional experience, we hope that students can equip themselves with stronger global and cultural awareness, enhance their sense of social responsibility and embrace their identity as global citizens.
A programme launch ceremony was organised 27 October 2018 with Professor Sophia Chan Siu-chee, Secretary for Food and Health, HKSAR Government, as the officiating guest.
