Responsible and sustainable consumption has been a global concern. It is of prime importance to establish Hong Kong as a sustainable and livable city as it is densely populated and lacks natural resources. Yet, it often requires stakeholders, including consumers, to take one step further: taking heed of the environmental and social impact of their purchases. Similarly, businesses are also urged to look beyond short-term economic and financial benefits and explore ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives. Are there things that the industries and government can do to accelerate society’s efforts and lessen its burden in pursuing responsible and sustainable consumption? In this SDG Forum, Prof. Darwin CHOI will share his views on how financial market responds to ESG initiatives and the economic considerations of sustainable consumption. Ms Maria CHEUNG will share the results of the survey conducted by Fair Trade Hong Kong last year and analyze how secondary students’ level of awareness and misperception affect their consumption behaviour. This talk is highly relevant to a number of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The forum will be conducted in Cantonese; all are welcome. Online Registration: |
