2023 was a year of evermore climate crises, armed conflicts and intensifying geopolitical tensions. At the start of 2024, the world seems further away than ever from achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, as was once hoped. We desperately need to get back on track and accelerate progress.
In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, shared his thoughts on Hong Kong’s potential leadership on sustainable development, offered recommendations for the city to put forward the SDGs, and emphasized the need to prioritize peace as the first global imperative.
